Prism (2013) incorporates pop and dance with themes of self-reflection, everyday life, and relationships. A reissue titled Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection (2012) subsequently had the number one single " Part of Me" and number two single " Wide Awake". number one singles-" California Gurls", " Teenage Dream", " Firework", " E.T.", and " Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)"-becoming the first album by a solo female artist to do so, and tied her with Michael Jackson's Bad. The disco-influenced pop album Teenage Dream (2010) spawned five U.S. Perry rose to fame with her second studio album and major label debut, One of the Boys (2008), a pop rock record containing her debut single " I Kissed a Girl" and follow-up single " Hot n Cold", which respectively reached number one and three on the U.S.
Much of the material from this time later appeared on One Of The Boys after executive Angelica Cob-Baehler helped her sign a recording contract with Capitol Records in April 2007. Perry began working on an album titled Fingerprints with producers such as Glen Ballard, Butch Walker, and Greg Wells while signed to Java Records and later Columbia Records before being dropped. After Red Hill went bankrupt, she moved to Los Angeles at 17 to venture into secular music, adopting the stage name "Katy Perry" from her mother's maiden name.
Originally singing in church during her childhood before later pursuing it as a career, she signed with Red Hill Records and released her commercially unsuccessful gospel debut studio album Katy Hudson (2001) under her birth name. She has been recognized for her influence on the pop sound and style of the 2010s.
